You're a
Treasure Seeker!

This year at Firm Family we're reading the Gospel of Luke together. That means you too!

How Do You Read the Bible Like a Detective?

Reading the Bible isn't just about getting through the words. It's about discovering what God is saying. You do that in three steps:

1
Observe
"What does it say?"

Read carefully. What's happening? Who's there? What words keep showing up?

2
Interpret
"What does it mean?"

Why did Jesus say or do that? What was He teaching the people around Him?

3
Apply
"What do I do?"

How does this change the way you think, feel, or act this week?

Think of it like an Easter egg hunt. The treasure is hidden in the words. You have to look carefully to find it. When you do, it's so worth it!

Pick Your Path Each Week

Different weeks are different. Pick the one that works for you. All of them count!

Easy Start
A

  • Find one thing that surprises you
  • Share it with someone!
Going Deeper

How to Mark Up Your Bible

Grab a pencil or some colored pencils and mark right in your Bible or on a printed copy of the passage. Here's what to look for:

Triangle

Any time you see God, Father, Jesus, Christ, or Holy Spirit -- draw a triangle!

Circle

Circle words that show up more than once. If a word keeps coming back, it's probably important!

Arrow

When two things are being compared or are opposites, draw an arrow between them.

[ ]
Brackets

Put brackets around a section and write a title above it in your own words. What is this part about?

🖍 Try Colored Pencils!
Purple → God / Father
Blue → Jesus / Christ
Yellow → Holy Spirit
Red → Important words
Green → Opposites / contrasts

Ask God to Help You See

Before you read, ask God to open your eyes. He loves to show you things in His Word.

"Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law." Psalm 119:18
"Teach me your way, O Lord, that I may walk in your truth." Psalm 86:11
